Few vocal groups scored as many hits over such a long period of time as The Drifters. From 1953 to 1974, the New York-based group scored a remarkable 32 entries on Billboard’s R&B chart and another 36 entries on the trade publication’s pop chart between 1955 and 1966. Just when their U.S. touring itinerary had been relegated to the oldies circuit, The Drifters had their career revitalized in England, where they had 11 hits between 1972 and 1976. The group’s biggest all-time hit was 1961’s “Save the Last Dance for Me,” which featured lead vocalist Ben E. King. It topped both the R&B and pop charts in the United States and climbed to #2 in the United Kingdom.

The Drifters’ classic charted hits also include “Dance With Me,” “This Magic Moment,” “I Count The Tears,” “Some Kind Of Wonderful,” “Up On The Roof,” “Under The Boardwalk,” “Sweets For My Sweet,” “On Broadway,” and “Saturday Night At The Movies.”

The Tokens attained prominence in 1961 with the hit song, "Tonight I Fell In Love." In October of that year, they recorded what has become one of the biggest hit songs of all time, "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." That classic song is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2021. One of the seminal songs of all times, it has enjoyed resurgence in multi-generational popularity thanks to its prominence in the long-running Broadway hit show, “The Lion King.” Other major hits for The Tokens include, "He's in Town", "I Hear Trumpets Blow" and "Portrait of My Love".
